What I have been reading

Here are some quotes from Shadow of the Almighty about Jim Elliot that have blessed me lately:

Accountability:
In a letter to a friend: "I charge you, by the concern we bear for one another's souls, and by the love of God, that you warn me and exhort me with patience if you see in me those turnings back of heart which I do not perceive in the blindness of my flesh."


Free time:
Journal entry October 7, 1949: "Realized today that I am on a very stiff trial--it is the test of free time. The Lord took away all outward activity. No work, no money to spend, nothing to do. I fear lest I should waste such days. Spent this one in writing, reading, and a little prayer."
