Fishing

I now understand more of what the Lord Jesus was referring to when he compared evangelism to fishing. Both are intricately dependent on God's sovereignty. We cannot will a fish to come and nibble on our bait; neither can we, using our own methods, hope to singlehandedly win anyone to Christ without the Spirit's working. Both also require much patience, as I learned this morning, and waiting on the Lord's working. As fishers of men, we must continually seek the Lord's working in the hearts of those we witness to, drawing them to himself. Apart from Him, we can do nothing.
